Beautiful girls in pretty gowns and dresses got into trouble and her prince charming would come to the rescue right on the clock, and then, they fall in love. If love is like that, everything would be easier. I thought that when I reached a certain age, I would eventually find a guy, fall in love and stay with him. And like fairy tales, live happily ever after. Then I saw my best friend fall in love when we were in high school, got hurt, saw her cry everytime and saw her heal from that heartbreak. And I hoped, that would never be me. Eventually it did. I fell in love, or so I thought was love, got my heartbroken and never understood why it had ended and what made him did it. My white knight came riding on a horse, took me along the ride, and then abandoned me in the forest, alone. That's not what I saw in fairy tales. White knights take their princess back to the castle, no? I was wrong. Because there's no such thing as white knight. There's no such thing as fairy tale. Love is complicated and nowadays, love is often open with OPTIONS. If you no longer love him, find another man. If you don't love him, there's always break up. Love was so meaningful, that it then became meaningless. I thought I knew love, but I didn't. Now in my twenties, Im still clueless what love is all about. But I'm happy not being in love right now. The complication of love, the false starts and truthful endings.. I'm only a woman. Wishing that things could be simpler. I'm glad Valentine's this year is smacked right between Chinese New Year. To all the couples, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY. And to all the singles, be happy that you are because there's so much to life that is to love than just, LOVE. :) 0 comments |
